BATU PAHAT: Four suspects, including a woman, have been remanded for seven days over alleged false claims involving Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) Daya Kerjaya employment incentives.
Magistrate Arun Noval Dass allowed the remand application against the suspects, aged between 40 and 60, until Tuesday to facilitate investigations under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.
The suspects allegedly posed as workers of a contracting company and submitted claims totalling between RM160,000 and RM180,000.
MACC found the suspects were not actual employees of the company and are believed to have cheated to obtain the incentives.
Perkeso's Daya Kerjaya initiative provides training and job placement assistance to help unemployed individuals improve their skills and secure employment.
Under Perkeso conditions, eligible recipients include senior citizens aged 60 and above, persons with disabilities (OKU), and individuals who have worked at a company for at least six months.
Suspicion over the claims led to the MACC probe and the subsequent arrest of the suspects.
Yesterday, MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the commission had detected misappropriation involving the government initiative, with false claims amounting to RM9.01 million.
He said investigations identified 143 companies involving 320 workers nationwide implicated in the misappropriation of government funds managed by Perkeso since 2024.
