SAGINAW, MI — Here are a few headlines from Saginaw County last week that attracted reader interest.

Michigan Supreme Court revives Saginaw 911 dispatcher’s whistleblower lawsuit in fatal shooting case

Bleeding from five gunshot wounds, a Saginaw woman began pounding on the door of a West Side house seeking help in the summer of 2021. Though someone called 911, it would take more than an hour for emergency personnel to arrive, by which time there was no saving the 23-year-old woman, N’ala J. Wallace.

A Saginaw County Central Dispatch employee filed a lawsuit against his employer, alleging the entity’s gross negligence contributed to Wallace’s death and that he was “constructively discharged” for pointing this out. The suit was dismissed by a local judge, but the Michigan Supreme Court has ruled the suit has merit and should continue.

Moving gunfight from Saginaw to Bay County leaves 3 men wounded

A rolling gunfight began in Saginaw County and ended in neighboring Bay County with three people wounded.

About 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, motorists called 911 to report two vehicles chasing each other as their occupants traded gunshots on River Road/M-13 near the Zilwaukee Bridge.

The two vehicles continued north on M-13 into Bay County. One of them, a white car, was disabled at North Tuscola Road/M-15 and West Youngs Ditch Road in Hampton Township. Police responded to the scene and found three men in the stalled vehicle, all injured and taken to local...
