The whistleblower at the centre of security screening claims at Dublin Airport was threatened with disciplinary procedures over a comment he made comparing the culture of the airport to that of the Defence Forces.
DAA, which operates Dublin Airport, told the whistleblower that he may be required to attend a disciplinary meeting as part of formal disciplinary procedures.
Emails to him from DAA, seen by the Irish Independent, state that a post he made on the internal network, Yammer, may be a breach of the company’s code of conduct and that an investigation would be carried out.
The post read: “truly dreadful report published today regarding the degrading behaviour of irish army officers. thankfully we don’t have that culture or any of those traits in the DAA.”
He inserted an eye-roll emoji after the comment.
The whistleblower told senior figures at DAA, via email on April 14, that he intended to leave the organisation but he maintains that he did not submit an official resignation.
Emails from senior DAA figures suggest the operator understood his April 14 email to be his resignation.
