NEW PHILADELPHIA ‒ RTY, Inc., which operates rides, concessions and the amphitheater at Tuscora Park, is asking the city of New Philadelphia for financial assistance as the cost of operating amusement rides continues to rise.

Prior to three years ago, profits from the sale of tickets were sufficient to cover the cost of ride maintenance and repairs. The organization usually turned a profit of $7,000 or $8,000 per year.

But in 2021, ride maintenance expenses were $17,690 and in 2022 were $25,697, according to RTY treasurer Carey Gardner. Both years, RTY wound up losing money.
