AAP, Akalis making false victory claims: Warring - Tribune India

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday said AAP and SAD were making false claims about their impressive show in the rural body elections held recently.

While AAP misused the government machinery, the Akali Dal could achieve limited results in Bathinda and Muktsar districts, he said.

Warring alleged that AAP’s gameplan was exposed by former Patiala SSP Varun Sharma, who directed his juniors to prevent the Opposition from filing nominations.

He said the police and election officials followed Sharma’s guidelines, which were reportedly issued by the AAP government. Though AAP claimed to have won 220 of the 347 Zila Parishad seats, it tasted victory only on 136 seats through the “electoral process”, which was “rigged”, added Warring. He pointed out that the Congress won 62 seats, SAD 46 and the BJP seven in the zila parishad.

Against the claim of winning 1,592 block samitis, AAP won 838 seats through the “electoral process” and the rest through intimidation, said Warring, adding that the Congress won 603 seats, and SAD and the BJP got 420 and 66 seats, respectively.
