NEW DELHI: AAP on Sunday demanded an apology from BJP over "false" allegations against the party in connection with the excise policy case.
The party's comments came in the wake of Delhi High Court granting bail to two accused, Rajesh Joshi and Gautam Malhotra, in a money laundering case connected with the Delhi excise policy. The court said that, prima facie, there was no evidence linking them to the alleged bribes given to co-accused, Vijay Nair, or other associates.
Addressing a press conference, Delhi minister Atishi said Joshi and Malhotra were central figures in ED-CBI's allegations of kickbacks worth Rs 100 crore being spent in Goa elections by AAP, but they were granted bail "on account of no evidence".
AAP national convenor and CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: "Now, even the court has said that there is no material evidence of any kickback or money laundering. We have been saying right from the beginning that the entire liquor scam is bogus and meant only to malign AAP."
Atishi claimed that ED had first alleged a scam of Rs 100 crore and, then, it settled for a scam of Rs 30 crore. Finally, the court stated that there was absolutely no material evidence to even prove this, she claimed.
