The office of former President John Mahama has described a recent allegation made by the governing New Patriotic Party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Mr Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) that the 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), got the “fattest” ever ex gratia of GH14 million, as “porous, false, unintelligent and a campaign of calumny” against the ex-president.
“President Mahama never took any such ex gratia payment of GH14 million in 2013 or at any other time during his 25 years of distinguished public service”, a statement issued by Mahama aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari on Monday, 5 September 2022, said, adding: “Fortunately, ex gratia payments are a matter of public record and are available in the office of the Chief of Staff or the Controller and Accountant General’s Department”.
