Dear Shri Sai Prasad,I refer to a disturbing letter addressed by Dr K Babu Rao and other eminent scientists to APPCB, questioning the way a police complaint had been filed against a whistle blower who, on 4-7-2025, had apprised the Board

It is bizarre that the police should register a complaint against a person who has rightly apprised the APPCB of toxic discharge of effluents by an industrial unit that poses a grave risk to the health of the residents in that area but not take action against the unit that is alleged to have wantonly discharged inadequately treated effluents posing such a grave risk. It is equally disturbing that APPCB is yet to act in the matter.
Are we reducing our democracy to a corporatocracy?Under the laws relating to prevention of pollution of air and water, APPCB has the mandate to act against errant industrial units. In that process, it should not only suo moto inspect such units and take action but also encourage people to bring such instances to its notice....
