A self-styled 'justice warrior' jailed over false accusations made by Senator Kristina Keneally's policeman son has been offered a $170,000 compensation payment for his ordeal.
Luke Moore spent three weeks in a maximum security prison after Constable Daniel Keneally wrongly claimed he had threatened to kill a detective in a telephone call.
Mr Moore had secretly taped that conversation but officers from the fixated persons investigation unit did not listen to the recording until long after his arrest.
Once police heard that recording they acknowledged it contained no death threats and all charges were withdrawn.
Mr Moore has now been offered a $170,000 settlement ahead of him launching any potential civil action against police.
The 34-eyar-old has already rejected the offer, telling Daily Mail Australia he is seeking $800,000 compensation for him, his family, and potentially a website he runs called isuepolice.com.
Mr Moore has also been sent a letter of apology on behalf of the State of NSW which would be liable for any compensation claim he made against the NSW Police Force.
The letter refers to correspondence Mr Moore has sent police and other bodies about the consequences of Constable Keneally falsely accusing him of threatening to kill the detective.
The apology covers police actions including 'a search of your house, seizure of your goods, your arrest, remand and prosecution for various offences'.
