NEW BROCKTON, Ala. (WTVY) - The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office transferred suspected child murderer Adrienne Reid to another facility, Sheriff Scott Byrd confirmed.
He said confusion and misinformation arose after the Coffee County Jail website showed Reid, accused of killing her young daughter, had been released.
Reid is charged with murdering her daughter, 2-year-old Genesis Reid, on Christmas night then reporting her missing on Feb. 16. She is formally charged with capital murder, corpse abuse and making false statements to law enforcement.
Genesis’ body is still missing as authorities conduct a meticulous search of the county landfill, where they believe she was dumped after her mother placed the remains into an apartment community trash receptacle.
Sheriff Byrd, while not providing specific details, said Reid’s transfer took place for safety reasons. He did not say where she is being held or elaborate further.
