AG Ellison: Duluth therapist accused of $2.2 million in false Medicaid claims - Northern News Now

DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A Duluth man is among nine Minnesotans charged in a Medicaid fraud crackdown.

Court documents allege Peter Meilahn billed Medicaid for services he never provided more than 27,000 times, adding up to $2.2 million in fraud.

Meilahn is a psychotherapist who had a company called Individual Services, which once had an office space in downtown Duluth.

He is now facing about a dozen felonies.

Attorney general addresses crackdown

Of the nine charged, Meilahn made up about three-quarters of the alleged fraud uncovered in the crackdown.

During a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Attorney General Keith Ellison said all of those charged, including Meilahn, took advantage of vulnerable people.

“Patients listed in Meilahn’s claims told us time and time again that Meilahn did not provide the services he claimed to provide. Some said they never had a single session with Meilahn,” Ellison said.

Reporter Ella Schoeberl is reviewing the new court documents and will have more at 6.
