Air India fires trainer pilot after whistleblower tip-off; grounds 10 pilots as precaution - The Economic Times
Air India has terminated the services of a simulator trainer pilot after a whistleblower claimed the trainer failed to perform his duties during pilot training. Following an investigation, the allegation was confirmed, and as a precaution, ten pilots who trained under the instructor have been temporarily removed from flying duties, the company said on Wednesday.
As part of the Tata-owned airline's commitment to maintaining high standards of ethics and transparency, Air India voluntarily reported the issue to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
"A detailed investigation was conducted and, following a review of the evidence, the allegation was corroborated. Accordingly, the said trainer pilot’s services are being terminated. As a precaution, ten pilots who underwent recurrent training under the trainer pilot have been removed from flying duties pending further investigation," said the airline.
The airline also commended the whistleblower for coming forward, recognising the importance of individuals helping uphold ethical practices within the organization.
