An Alabama company has entered into a civil settlement agreement with the federal government and paid $153,300 to resolve allegations it submitted false claims for payment to the Connecticut Medicaid program for applied behavior analysis services, according to federal authorities.
Authorities said Amvik Solutions LLC, based in Birmingham, Alabama, provides billing, claims, and collections services for healthcare providers and uses its proprietary WebABA software to perform these services for ABA providers throughout the country, including Helping Hands Academy, LLC, a Bridgeport-based applied behavior analysis services provider that provided such services to children with autism.
Helping Hands had retained Amvik in 2018 to handle billing and claims for applied behavior analysis services and the “government alleges that when submitting claims for payment to Connecticut Medicaid on behalf of Helping Hands, Amvik falsely identified the incorrect Board Certified Behavior Analyst “as the rendering provider on the claims,” authorities said in a statement
The result was Connecticut Medicaid paying claims that it would not have otherwise paid, authorities said.
