GUWAHATI: The authorities of the Assam Engineering Institute (AEI) in Guwahati have said that the allegations made by the student in the case of alleged ragging reported last month, are false and that the student has confessed to the same, as per reports.
A statement by the authorities of the Assam Engineering Institute, Chandmari, read, “In the preliminary investigation of the anti-ragging committee, it has come to light that the allegation made by Bishal Kashyap Saloi is completely false. This has been accepted by Bishal Kashyap Saloi himself".
"According to the first complaint, two boys who called Bishal, uttered slang words and resorted to ragging. At that time one of them submitted evidence that he was in an AutoCAD class at a computer institute during the time of the incident. Secondly. Bishal admitted that the allegation of senior students asking for 500 was also false. Thirdly, the allegation that a gold chain was snatched from Bishal was also not true: rather, according to the testimony given by Bishal's father, he did not give any gold chain to his son. Fourthly. Bishal himself was not sure about his complaint of how much the scooty got damaged or stained," the statement said.
Moreover, the boys who testified on behalf of Bishal were not from the AEI and were not present on the spot, stated reports.
