Amazon Web Services Trims Workforce in July, Part of 2025 Restructuring - Samfiru Tumarkin LLP
What Happened at AWS?
Amazon has pulled out the axe again — reportedly trimming its Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing unit on July 17.
“We’ve made the difficult business decision to eliminate some roles across particular teams in AWS,” a spokesperson for the e-commerce giant said in a statement to Reuters.
“These decisions are necessary as we continue to invest, hire, and optimize resources to deliver innovation for our customers.”
The latest round of job cuts comes roughly a month after CEO Andy Jassy warned that AI adoption is expected to shrink Amazon’s workforce.
Impact on Canadian Staff
Samfiru Tumarkin LLP is working to determine if Canadian employees at AWS have been let go.
According to LinkedIn, the company has more than 4,200 workers in the country.
