Ambulance service whistleblower 'in limbo' as he speaks out about bullying claims and ignored warnings - Chronicle Live

Paul Calvert blew the whistle - repeatedly - on alleged wrongdoing within North East Ambulance Service.

More than three years on from first raising concerns about the NHS Trust's candour when it came to disclosing information to the coroner's courts about tragic cases, he has told ChronicleLive that he's "in limbo" and that alleged bullying and harassment as a result of his whistleblowing has had a stark impact on his health.

He's also again raised concerns that - within the ambulance service - when he and others raised concerns they were "bullied and belittled" by senior staff. Paul. who lives in Peterlee. has also claimed that as late as 2021 he was highlighting errors in documentation and had seen no evidence of improvements to NEAS' process when it came to interacting with coroner's offices.

A report conducted by the external firm AuditOne highlighted that, in these cases and in June 2020 found "the Trust is still not proactively disclosing information and / or documents when appropriate". The investigators also found some "lengthy delays" in the process at this time. NEAS accepts that there were "historical failings" with its processes on this front, but maintains these have been resolved.
