Employment for US workers in all legal occupations reached its highest level in a year during the third quarter of 2024, based on Bureau of Labor Statistics data that may indicate that total legal employment is steadily rising.

Legal employment rose 7% between the second and third quarters of 2024, following a more gradual 1% increase from Q1 to Q2. Overall, employment in legal occupations accelerated to 1.91 million US workers in Q3, almost in line with the total employed in the legal field during the third quarter of 2023, when 1.99 million worked in legal occupations.
