Apartment claims it paired with police for evictions. Prosecutors say that’s ‘categorically false’ - MLive.com

SUPERIOR TWP, MI - Letters from an apartment complex claiming it has partnered with local law enforcement for its eviction proceedings have sparked an investigation, officials said Tuesday.

Officials from the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office said claims from Danbury Park Manor in Superior Township that it has a formal partnership with the office and local police are “categorically false.”

“The landlords at Danbury Park do not have any partnership – formal or otherwise – with our office or with law enforcement generally,” the prosecutor’s office said in a message shared to social media Tuesday morning. “Nor is the Washtenaw Sheriff planning police escorts for landlord inspections.”

Management at Danbury Park reportedly sent letters to tenants claiming it had “formally partnered with the District Attorney’s Office” and local police to assist with inspections and other eviction proceedings.

There is not an agency called the “district attorney” at the county level, officials said. The local equivalent would be the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office.

Danbury Park Manor, 9412 MacArthur Blvd. in Superior Township, has 146 units eligible for rent assistance through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), according to department’s website. There are 151 units in the complex in total.
