An Arizona cardiology practice will pay millions of dollars to resolve federal allegations of unnecessary treatments, even though the physicians said they "strongly" disagree with the accusations.
Tri-City Cardiology, a physician group based in the East Valley, and three of its individual physicians have agreed to pay $4.75 million to resolve allegations that over a five-year period they violated the federal False Claims Act by performing medically unnecessary vein ablations, according to a March 12 news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona.
