Army Hits Back at ‘False’ Allegations of Power Struggle, Corruption at 90 Battalion

The Nigerian Army has dismissed social media allegations claiming internal power struggles, welfare neglect, and financial exploitation at 90 Battalion, Koko, describing them as malicious and unfounded attempts at institutional blackmail.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Headquarters, 6 Division, clarified that postings and deployments in the Nigerian Army are routine exercises conducted professionally, without consideration of religion, loyalty, or other partisan factors, contrary to claims circulating online.

The statement emphasized that the Commanding Officer of 90 Battalion has been executing his responsibilities professionally within available resources. It also highlighted that established administrative procedures exist within the Army for addressing any complaints, and any personnel bypassing these channels are considered to be engaging in acts of blackmail.

“The Nigerian Army remains a professional force with zero tolerance for corruption, welfare abuse, religious-based postings, or any form of malfeasance within its ranks,” the statement read. “Where infractions occur, they will be thoroughly investigated according to established procedures.”
