Army major claims trial to RM225,000 false claims charges - NST Online

ALOR GAJAH: An army major claimed trial at the Ayer Kerod Sessions Court here today to five charges of submitting false claims involving maintenance work and non-existent raw material supplies worth over RM225,000 two years ago.

Major D. Vivekananthan, 43, entered the plea after the charges under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 were read out before Judge Elesabet Paya Wan.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, while serving as the Commanding Officer of the 9th Squadron of the Royal Engineers Regiment (9 SKN RAJD) at Terendak Camp, allegedly used five invoices from different companies containing false details related to construction and maintenance work.

For the first charge, he is accused of using an invoice under the name Jelatok Rimba Enterprise, dated March 12, 2024, involving the construction of an Armed Forces Trade Training Workshop, two troop squad huts, and a C-type vehicle training store amounting to RM80,000, which did not actually exist.

The second charge involves the use of an invoice from WH Technic Resources, dated March 26, 2024, for the maintenance of the Guardhouse Garage (BPKP 21) and related work for the 9 SKN RAJD team, valued at RM35,523.75, which was also allegedly not carried out.

For the remaining three charges, the accused is alleged to have used false invoices from Sri Bistari Trading (RM20,000), Subsurf Sdn Bhd (RM39,950), and Fareena Universal (RM49,545) for the maintenance of the 9 SKN RAJD FAMTO store, a...
