Ashland sergeant sues city, alleging wrongful termination after whistleblower report - KRCG

Another Ashland Police officer has filed a lawsuit against the city.

Sergeant Andrew Worrall was fired from his position in July 2025.

Worrall started with the department in November 2014 and was promoted to sergeant in 2020.

The lawsuit claims he was fired because he told officials that another officer had lied about the conduct of Officer Tom Whitener, who had reported wrongdoing by former Police Chief Gabe Edwards.

The lawsuit also claims the city fired Worrall, even after they found the claims against Whitener to be false.

It also said that the department reported to Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) that Worrall had been fired for submitting a false report.

Worrall was seeking to get his job back, back pay, and attorneys’ fees.

Edwards filed a suit against Ashland, which was settled in December 2023.

Whitener’s case was scheduled to go to trial on July 6, 2026.
