Atong Ang may be out of the country already — whistleblower - Inquirer.net

MANILA, Philippines — Missing sabungeros (cockfighting enthusiasts) case whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan on Saturday said he believes that businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang is already out of the country.

This is what Patidongan answered when he was asked if Ang is still in the country following the arrest warrant issued against him by the Sta. Cruz, Laguna Regional Trial Court over the death of several sabungeros.

“He may be out of the country already,” Patidongan said in an interview with dzBB.

Patidongan also said that he thinks Ang has been abroad since December last year. When asked if he had basis for these claims or if he heard this from Ang himself, Patidongan said that it is his own belief.

“No one told me that, but for me, I believe that is what he will do,” Patidongan noted.

Also asked if he thinks that Ang may have a lot of places to hide in the Philippines, the whistleblower answered in the affirmative. He added that Ang will not ask help from retired or current officials to cover up his hiding.

“For me, Mr. Atong Ang can look after himself and will not look for help from others… If he will do that, that’s his own secret. If he is still in the country, he may be hiding in a property in one of the exclusive subdivisions he owns,” he expressed.
