Badminton: BAM warn over fake affiliation claims - The Star

PETALING JAYA: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have warned the public over the misuse of their name and logo by irresponsible parties seeking to mislead people.

The latest case involves a Kuala Lumpur-based club, SmashChamp Badminton, which was found using BAM’s name and logo on certificates while claiming or implying links with the national body.

BAM said they had no connection with the club and had never given permission for their name or logo to be used.

A police report has been lodged over the unauthorised use of BAM’s logo and the false claims of affiliation.

“Members of the public, particularly parents, are advised to exercise caution and verify any such claims before enrolling their children or making any payments.

“BAM take the misuse of their name and logo seriously and reserve the right to take further action.

“For verification of official BAM programmes, please refer to BAM’s official communication channels,” said BAM in a statement.

Last month, BAM were also hit by a scam syndicate that used the association’s name to promote badminton training sessions.

Meanwhile, all the mainstream media have also warned individual websites and blogs from using their articles and photos without permission as plagiarism is an offense and action can be taken against them.
