Whistleblower Athol Williams - who fled South Africa last year citing concerns over his safety - says he is ready to talk to UK authorities about Bain & Company's role in weakening the SA Revenue Service (SARS).
This follows a call by former UK Cabinet minister and anti-apartheid activist Lord Peter Hain for the UK Cabinet Office to speak to Williams about the management consultancy's work at the tax agency.
The UK government has already said it would write to Bain to "better understand" the first section of the State Capture Inquiry, which found that Bain had "colluded" with senior government officials to weaken South Africa's tax agency. Hain has also called on his government to freeze all contracts with Bain.
