Baltimore City Public Schools whistleblower describes classroom: 'It's pure chaos' - Fox Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — “I would think that at the end of the day, if a teacher tells you to put your cell phone away because you're not supposed to have a cell phone in the class, I would hope that a student would know that it's wrong to tell you to [expletive]. That would be my hope.”

That’s how a former teacher at a Baltimore City Public School elementary school described what they said routinely saw in the classroom. The teacher is speaking up, though hiding their identity out of fear, because the teacher said the treatment was unbearable.

“Working in Baltimore City Public Schools, it was chaos. It was pure chaos,” the teacher said.

When asked if they felt like there was support inside North Avenue -- headquarters of the district -- for teachers to make changes, the teacher simply said, “No.”

"The message that I got from my administration was that North Ave kind of says, ‘Hey - it's your school. You fix it’,” the teacher said.

"I’ve witnessed desks being thrown at other teachers,” the teacher said. "I didn’t think it would be perfect, but I didn't think it would be what it was.”

Baltimore City Public Schools issued a statement to claims of behavior issues inside the classroom, telling FOX45 News that resources are support “are provided to teachers in implementing morning meetings and advisory sessions at the elementary and secondary levels, respectively.”
