Barcelona demand LaLiga president Javier Tebas RESIGNS - Daily Mail

Barcelona have called for LaLiga president Javier Tebas to resign after a story appeared in Spain on Monday suggesting he had incorrectly linked two former club presidents to evidence in the corruption case against the club.

Tebas has strongly refuted the claims on social media, but Barcelona issued a statement saying the league chief was 'obsessed with persecuting' the club.

In Monday morning's La Vanguardia newspaper it was alleged that Tebas sent a document to the Public Prosecutor, written by former Barcelona director Josep Contreras, since deceased, that implicated former Barcelona presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell in the alleged crimes of financial impropriety and misappropriation.

La Vanguardia say Tebas had attributed two names in the document to Rosell and Bartomeu.

But according to La Vanguardia the family of Contreras say the letter was written 'decades' before and mentions of a 'Rosell and a 'Josep Maria' were references to different people and not the former Barcelona presidents.

Tebas circled a specific part of the story which says that his letter does not 'imply any specific accusation against anyone'

In his tweet on Monday morning Tebas wrote: 'La Vanguardia's headline [Tebas provided the Prosecution with false evidence to incriminate Barça] is FALSE, we did NOT accuse anyone.

'This is corroborated by the story itself which points out that the letter to the prosecutor's office said, "nor does the present letter imply any specific accusation...
