Barrister jailed for false rape claims against married lover wins appeal against life sentence - Daily Mail

A barrister who cried rape in a plot to frame her married lover has had her life sentence for perverting the course of justice overturned on appeal.

Anisah Ahmed, 33, of Oxford, had staged her own kidnapping and stabbing as part of an 'evil' campaign to ruin the life of her lover Iqbal Mohammed, after finding out he had a wife.

She became the first person to receive life for perverting the course of justice, but her sentence was overturned by a panel of three judges on the Court of Appeal this week, who changed her prison term to 10 years.

The twisted plot, which began in 2014, saw the qualified barrister send intimate messages of her lover's affair to his wife and colleagues, before emailing his Head of Chambers demanding an investigation into his integrity.

Mr Mohammed described the ordeal as like something out of Fatal Attraction - the cult classic Hollywood film starring Glenn Close and Michael Douglas in which a jilted lover takes increasingly extreme steps to enact revenge on her married victim.

Ahmed's scorn took a more sinister turn when she created fake emails to support her false claims which made it look like they were sent by the victim threatening her, amounting to 'blackmail.'

But after the emails were found to be falsified, she then accused Mr Mohammed of raping her on several occasions, giving detailed and convincing accounts to investigators.
