Detectives have met representatives from the BBC to discuss allegations that a presenter paid a teenager for sexually explicit images.
The meeting took place on Monday morning and police said they are now assessing the information to decide whether any criminal offence has taken place.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command met with representatives from the BBC on the morning of Monday, 10 July. The meeting took place virtually.
“They are assessing the information discussed at the meeting and further enquiries are taking place to establish whether there is evidence of a criminal offence being committed.
“There is no investigation at this time.”

Sex claims reported to BBC while ITV 'engulfed in Schofield crisis'
Sex scandal allegations against a BBC presenter were first reported as ITV was engulfed in the Phillip Schofield crisis, writes Robert Mendick and Anita Singh.
On May 18 - a day before the broadcaster was contacted over the claims - Schofield appeared for the last time on This Morning amid widespread conjecture over his career and private life.
Although both scandals centred on sex, the ITV affair was different in nature in that Schofield admitted a consensual affair with a younger male colleague, while he was still married.
