BBC to meet Metropolitan Police following presenter explicit photo claims
Nicky Campbell has spoken out after his name was thrown into the mix as the unnamed BBC male presenter accused of paying a teenager more than 35,000 for sexually explicit pictures.
Opening his BBC Radio 5 Live today, the 62-year-old said his thoughts are with the alleged victim and family, but said he felt distressed after being falsely accused.
Going into further detail, he told his listeners: "So a bit of perspective here, worse things happen at sea as they say, but it was a distressing weekend, I can’t deny it, for me and others falsely named.
“Today I am having further conversations with the police in terms of malicious communication and with lawyers in terms of defamation.”
Also on the show, a caller rang to say she was “so angry and cross” that he and others had to come forward and clear their names.

He replied: “I’m all good, Jeremy (Vine) and also others involved as well, Rylan (Clark) and also Gary (Lineker), yeah it’s uncomfortable but as I said earlier worse things happen at sea. We're big boys."
All the names Nicky listed above have strongly denied they are involved and have continued their work with the BBC.
Nicky's on-air statement came after he told his 185,000 Twitter followers he had contacted police about being named online in connection with the story.
