Ben Ritchie did not always want to be a lawyer. “I did not grow up wanting to be a lawyer and do not really have lawyers in my family. I have always enjoyed reading, writing, history and political science,” Ritchie said of what made him want to pursue a legal career. “As I was working my way through my history undergraduate degree, I came to know several lawyers and I was able to get an understanding of what lawyers do. I really respected these lawyers and thought it would be a rewarding career path for me.”
Those early connections during his undergraduate studies helped lead Ritchie to complete his Juris Doctor at the University of Idaho College of Law in 2005. From there, he began a law career that has seen him working in several different roles including as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard T. St. Clair and as a partner with Moffatt Thomas Law Firm. Ritchie is currently a litigator who specializes in insurance and liability defense and employment law as a partner at Hawley Troxell. With such specialties, Ritchie provides coverage analysis for insurance companies, defends employers against claims under various employment laws, among other activities.
Over the course of his law career, Ritchie has had the opportunity to contribute to the community with his work in a number of different ways, including currently serving on Idaho State Bar’s Reasonable Accommodation Committee for the Bar Exam and is the Treasurer for the Seventh District Bar Association. “I am grateful...
