Best Care Laboratory Services LLC alongside its owner and founder, Karim A. Maghareh, will pay an additional $5.7 million to settle an outstanding False Claims Act judgment against them, the Justice Department announced Tuesday.
In 2018, a court found BestCare knowingly submitted false claims to Medicare by billing for inaccurate travel allowance reimbursements that did not reflect the mileage lab technicians had actually traveled.
This settlement follows nearly $790,000 that the United States has already collected from the company since 2018, said the agency.
