Bethesda has addressed recent accusations of malpractice by a DOOM Eternaldeveloper, calling the claims "one-sided and false."
The video game giant released a statement on Twitter in response to recent allegations made by acclaimed DOOM Eternal composer Mick Gordon. In a lengthy Medium, Gordon laid out in great detail his experiences working on the DOOM Eternal score and accused Bethesda and id Software of ineptitude, mistreatment and of scapegoating him for the soundtrack's poor reception. The composer also said the company had offered to pay him a six-figure sum to not speak publicly about his experiences. In its response, Bethesda said the blog post "mischaracterized and misrepresented" what actually transpired during DOOM Eternal's development. The company also vowed to protect its employees from the harassment and threats that have allegedly grown more frequent since Gordon's statement.
Bethesda's public statement is the latest in the long-running war of words between Gordon and id Software, who have been at odds since 2020 following the release of the much-criticized DOOM Eternal soundtrack. After numerous complaints about low-quality mixing, several tech-savvy fans saw abnormalities in the final mix wavelengths between the DOOM and DOOM Eternal soundtracks, suggesting something was amiss.
