Ample evidence supported the jury’s conclusion that BofI Holding Inc. fired an auditor as retaliation for his whistleblowing activities and then defamed him in a statement to investors, a federal trial court said.

The jury’s award of $1.5 million in damages to Charles Erhart was supported by the record, he was also entitled to $2.4 million in attorneys’ fees, and roughly $170,000 in prejudgment interest, Judge Cynthia Bashant, of the US District Court for the Southern District of California, said in a trio of orders issued Thursday.
