RITCHIE COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A request to have bond reinstated for the self-proclaimed West Virginia State Police whistleblower was denied Wednesday.
A Ritchie County judge denied Joseph Comer’s motion for bond reinstatement after it was revoked last week in a domestic violence case against him. Prosecutors said he communicated with Vikki Marra, the accuser in the case, which violated his bond conditions.
Marra had originally accused Comer of assaulting her during a custody exchange of a child they share. On June 21, Marra told prosecutors she wanted to drop the charges against Comer.
Prosecutors said the request came five days after Comer allegedly began communicating with Marra.
Marra, who was also a trooper with the West Virginia State Police has also resigned from the agency.
Comer and his attorney have insisted he is the victim of a smear campaign orchestrated by former State Police administrators who suspected he was the whistleblower outlining numerous alleged instances of criminal activity.
The allegations included theft, fraud and the cover-up of a video camera placed inside the West Virginia State Police Academy women's locker room and destruction of the recordings.
Comer's case is still pending in Ritchie County Circuit Court.
