Boston Police Warn Elderly Residents About False Kidnapping Claims - Patch

BOSTON, MA — Boston police officers are warning elderly residents about false kidnapping calls after receiving a concerning report Sunday, the Boston Police Department wrote in a Tuesday news release.

A worried resident called police Sunday after an unknown suspect called the resident and threatened to kidnap their daughter and her young child in the area of Waltham Street, police said. The suspect demanded a cash payment through an online application, according to police.

Officers said they tracked down the people referenced in the threatening call and found them safe. Fortunately, no money had been transferred to the suspect, police said.
