Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell has garnered over $665,000 in citations against Neptune Garment Company and its president, John Kindregan, for non-compliance with Massachusetts wage and hour laws.

The company, seated in Boston, is cited for late payment of wages, no overtime pay, and refusal of earned sick time rights according to Office of the Attorney General.

The Attorney General's press release specifies that Neptune prevented employees to use their earned sick time, violating Massachusetts Earned Sick Time law.

As per the law, employees are entitled to accrue one hour of earned sick time for each 30 hours worked, and are allowed to use it as job-protected sick leave after 90 days of employment.

The Attorney General's investigation of Neptune's practices brought to light, employees were not paid for their logged time prior to 7:30 AM, portraying late wage payments.

Employees frequently clocked in early for station cleaning and work preparation.

Conversely, Neptune automatically deducted a half-hour meal break from daily work hours, despite employees remaining on station and barred from using their phones.

Simultaneously, Neptune failed in paying its employees time and one half their regular pay rate for exceeding 40 working hours in a week, a violation of the state's overtime law.

Thus, these citations by AG Campbell highlight the necessity for companies to comply with regulations meant to ensure workers' rights.
