According to officials with the Bryan County School District, the student who admitted to making the false claim will be punished to the extent possible as outlined in the student code of conduct.

There was a threat made at Richmond Hill High School Wednesday morning claiming a student was bringing a weapon to school. After an investigation, administrators determined there was no immediate threat to students and staff.
The Bryan County School District released this statement to parents and WJCL 22 News:
"Richmond Hill High School received notice this morning that someone would be on campus with a weapon. The administration immediately began their investigation and tracked down the source of the threat and who supposedly had the weapon.
"The student that allegedly had the weapon was pulled, searched, and parents were contacted. The student who admitted to making the false claim will be punished to the extent possible as outlined in the student code of conduct.
"In addition, Georgia law allows for criminal charges if an individual causes a significant disruption to the orderly operation of any school through false or unmerited claims. Bryan County Schools takes every threat seriously and student and staff safety continues to be our number one priority.
