Burges Salmon and Michelmores are the two happiest law firms in the country.
Each scored a stunning 85% overall in RollOnFriday’s Best Law Firms to Work At 2025 survey, placing them atop 76 firms which qualified for inclusion.
Their marks were awarded by staff rating how satisfied they were with their pay, career development, work/life balance, their office, the culture, and the management.
People working at Burges Salmon and Michelmores were on average more content than their counterparts at any other firm - significantly more so in some cases (>cough< Shakespeare Martineau, Keoghs, Knights >cough<).
Being the best is like riding a bike for Burges Salmon: it’s the fourth year in a row the Bristolian beauty has come top. Hundreds of staff from the firm had their say, and their say was overwhelmingly: ‘We BS’.
How much? "I bleed pink", said one junior solicitor.
As a colleague put it: "I was a bit sceptical about the culture and how happy everyone was before I joined (it seemed a bit too good to be true), but I get it. People are genuinely proud to work here and the firm recognises and rewards everyone's hard work".
