Burkina Faso's Statement Defends Alban Lafont Against False Accusations - FootBoom

At the center of a controversy surrounding allegations that his entourage requested money from the Burkina Faso federation to play under the Etalons jersey, Alban Lafont has received support from the FBF in a statement issued this Tuesday.

Alban Lafont can rest easy. For several days now, the FC Nantes goalkeeper has been at the heart of rumors from a local Burkinabé media outlet suggesting that his entourage had made financial demands to the Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF) in exchange for him playing under the Etalons colors. This rumor was denied this Tuesday in a statement. The player is reportedly close to joining the African national team.

"For some time now, the name of Alban Lafont, goalkeeper of FC Nantes in the French Ligue 1, has been the subject of discussions in certain circles, in the press, and on social media. It is mentioned that the Franco-Burkinabé, approached by the Burkina Faso Football Federation to convince him to wear the colors of Burkina Faso, allegedly set financial conditions among other things," the federation explained.

"The FBF regrets the unfounded claims and speculations that have emerged, affecting its image, as well as that of Alban Lafont and his family.
