Fraudulent dental insurance claims were all submitted by the same dentist at All About Family Dental, located at 7520 Elbow Drive S.W.

The information of five patients was used to submit false claims to the insurance provider, said the Calgary Police Service in a Monday release.

Police worked with an internal investigator from the insurance company to review hundreds of claims dating back over a decade.

“Between January 2013 and January 2023, the accused fraudulently submitted false billings for endodontic, restoration and extraction procedures,” said CPS.

In total, the fraudulent claims resulted in almost $30,000 in losses.

On March 31 police arrested Alena Vladimiro Smadych, 55, and she was charged with fraud over $5,000.
