California Governor Newsom Signs Transportation Gig Worker Collective Bargaining Law - Law.com

On Oct. 3, 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill No.1340 (Chapter 10.7, Transportation Company Drivers Labor Relations Act) (“Cal.Law”). Reports suggest Uber and Lyft ending up supporting the legislation because the state agreed to reduce accident insurance premiums for accidents involving their drivers.
