California Pushes to Expand Leave Benefits After Miscarriages - Bloomberg Law

California workers would be entitled to time off work after a miscarriage under legislation advancing with bipartisan support.

Lawmakers have moved forward legislation (S.B. 848) that would guarantee workers up to five days of unpaid leave after pregnancy loss or related circumstances, such as after a failed surrogacy or an unsuccessful adoption. The measure authored by Sen. Susan Rubio (D) would apply to companies with five or more employees and extend to spouses as well as domestic partners.
