Canada Jewelry Tariff Fraud Lawsuit Allowed to Advance by Court - Bloomberg Law News

A consultant turned whistleblower can move forward with his False Claims Act suit alleging that The Sporn Company Inc. and others defrauded the US government by importing jewelry from Canada without paying the proper duties amount.

Steven Adler can move forward with the suit even though Sporn and US Customs and Border Protection reached a $172,845 settlement in 2023 over allegedly improper import practices, Chief Judge Christina Reiss of the US District Court for the District of Vermont said in a Thursday opinion denying a motion to dismiss.
