Mumbai: Anish Damania, managing director (group relations) of JM Financials Ltd, and the husband of anti-corruption activist Anjali Damania, was appointed as an honorary advisor in the Maharashtra govt's think-tank, Maharashtra Institute for Transformation (MITRA).A chartered accountant and capital markets expert, Anish Damania is member of the FICCI Capital Market Committee. He previously served as MD and CEO of JM Financial Institutional Securities Ltd and CEO of IDFC Securities. He also worked at Jardine Fleming and HSBC Securities.The appointment raised questions about a possible conflict of interest for Anjali Damania, who previously served as a whistleblower on corruption charges against politicians, including deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, NCP minister Chhagan Bhujbal, NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, and senior politician Eknath Khadse, who was then a BJP cabinet minister.NCP (SP) leader Rohit Pawar posted on X sarcastically: "Congratulations on the appointment of Anish Damania to the honorary advisory position at MITRA, the think-tank of the Maharashtra govt.
