A large police presence surrounded a west Cary home after reports of a shooting early Friday morning.
The initial call went out at 3:55 a.m. to a home off Carpenter Fire Station Road near NC-540.

Cary police called the reports a "false alarm" and cleared the scene about an hour later. WRAL obtained the 911 call to help better understand what happened.
The call features a male voice who tells the dispatcher he got into an argument with his mother and shot her. He said he believes she is dead. He also tells the dispatcher he has explosives in the house and threatens to use them on the police if they come into the house.
“I knew it, you’re going to take me to jail. I’m sorry, I’m barricading myself,” he said.
Moments later, he hung up the phone. When police arrived at the address, the residents were asleep and there was no disturbance.
The scene left residents of the Cameron Pond neighborhood, described as safe and quiet, confused.
Ben Isner, who has lived in the area for over 20 years, said, “It’s always been a pretty safe neighborhood, don’t really hear about anything like this happening. So, I was very concerned about a potential shooting in Cameron Pond."
The Cary Police Department responded and armed themselves with tactical gear before approaching the home.
