Carlton County, Minnesota is entitled to summary judgment on a terminated police officer’s First Amendment retaliation and 14th Amendment due process claims against the city of Cloquet, arising from his criticism of a former police chief on Facebook, a federal district court in Minnesota ruled. The court found that the officer didn’t suffer an adverse employment action due to an internal investigation of the former chief’s citizen complaint about his posts, because he only received an oral reprimand.
