A district court erred when it reduced the duration of a noncompete clause in the employment contract of a former tax preparer for the Doan Family Corporation from two years to one year, a Kansas appellate court ruled. The court reasoned that the clause’s two-year time restriction is reasonable because it directly serves the interest of maintaining relationships with Doan’s clients by having them work with other employees still with the company.
