General Motors, LLC is entitled to summary judgment on a terminated design release engineer’s claims alleging failure to pay overtime wages under the Fair Labor Standards Act, a federal district court in Michigan ruled. The court found that the engineer was exempt from the FLSA’s overtime requirements under the professional exemption. The court noted that she held the required engineering degree, didn’t perform routine mental, manual, mechanical, or physical work, and possessed the required advanced knowledge for her position.
