Thanks for the link, Miramar. According to the former employee of Israel's military intelligence Ari ben Manashe Epstein was recruited by Ehud Barak at the request of Robert Maxwell. Epstein's relationship with prince Edward was a big price for Israeli intelligence.
The suspicion is that both Maxwell and Epstein ended up being silenced by the Israelis because of the risk that both would end up 'singing'.
